Discussing sex and sexuality in anything other than a dry, scientific manner tends to get an author labeled negatively – especially since almost everyone is offended (‘too racy’ and ‘too vanilla’ all at once). Yet, once again, Ms. Galenorn rises to the challenge. Part sex manual, part spiritual guide and written in Ms. Galenorn’s typical friendly and informative style, Sexual Ecstasy and the Divine is a superb exploration of alternative sexuality.

After a review of sex throughout history, we are treated to a discussion of the practical aspects of sex. The practical details include talking about sexual problems with our partner, masturbation, sex magic, sex toys, and the role of fantasy. Lest you think that this might be a Pagan version of the Joy of Sex, Ms. Galenorn then sensitively writes about the aftermath of rape: how to move from victim to survivor (and clearly makes the case that rape is not a sexual act, although it effects our sexuality in many ways).

Sexual Ecstasy and the Divine has a bit of everything: magick, love, fantasy, BDSM, psychology, healing, good advice and some well-thought-out and practical methods for connecting with the divine, your partner, sexual energy and your body. I highly recommend it for anyone interested in sex.
