Using a combination of personal gnosis and experiences, Farrell weaves in a variety of shamanic and indigenous teachings to access plant energies for spiritual healing. Beginners will appreciate the information about learning to clear (and calm) the mind, cleanse one's energy, before connecting to specific plant energy. Confident practitioners will enjoy working through the Thirteen Plants and Tree Spirits Farrell focuses on as introductory allies.

Those thirteen are:
Mugwort
Oak
Hawthorn
Nettle
Dandelion
Alder
Lady's Mantle
Rosemary
Fireweed
Wormwood
Angelica
Elder
Yew

Typical of many people "of an age" Farrell's training comes from a variety of indigenous teachers around the world as she traveled to various locations -- deliberately and by chance -- for training. This part of her revelations was most difficult for me to accept (how convenient to have had an initiatory experience in the sacred places of Egypt, and to have found the soul teacher in a small village outside the Dalai Lama's training center, etc.) Its an odd criticism, perhaps, but took away from the ten+ years she spent actually working with the plants she discusses.

A rich resource for those looking to create a deeper relationship with their plant allies. Journeys with Plant Spirits is appropriate for both newcomers to working with plants and those who have done so for many years.
