Not every album has to have a story, or tell one. Sometimes an album is just a collection of music, perfect to put on and let play in the background. Classified as 'ambient,' Mark Bruland's BEEing HUMAN is a collection of songs that are very atmospheric and pastoral in their sound -- not quite what Mr. Eno originally meant, but still qualifying for the term. These sounds are more like the old Windham Hill recordings (back in the 'old days' or new age music).

There are many influences heard throughout this album: jazz, orchestral, folk, pop, ambient, and new age. It's a bit of a hodge-podge, and not always executed with clarity or style. I didn't hear any false notes, but at times the music didn't 'gel' for me, and I found myself wishing for the next song.

Overall, this is a nice piece of work. Recommended.
